AV Designer

A design automation platform for AV integrators that replaces hand-drawn signal flow diagrams, spreadsheet BOMs, and guesswork speaker placement with a standards-driven engineering workflow. Room builder, 3D visualization, automated electrical drawings, and coverage analysis in one tool.

Platform Overview

Every stage of the AV design workflow — from room layout to standards validation to drawing export.

Room Builder

Drag-and-drop floor plan editor with snap-to-grid, dimension overlays, and equipment placement. Build a room layout and the system tracks every component's position, power draw, and cable requirements.

3D Visualization

Real-time WebGL rendering with speaker SPL heat maps, microphone pickup patterns, and display viewing angle overlays. See coverage gaps before the system is installed, not after.

Auto-generated Drawings

Electrical line drawings produced directly from equipment placement. Signal flow, power distribution, and cable routing diagrams that update in real time as the design changes.

Standards Engine

Per-organization design rules for minimum SPL coverage, speaker uniformity, cable run limits, power budgets, and equipment selection. Every placement is validated in real time with pass/fail indicators.

Coverage Analysis

Speaker SPL distribution modeling, microphone pickup pattern visualization using polar data, and display viewing angle calculations based on AVIXA standards. Data-driven placement instead of intuition.

BOM & Export

Equipment schedules built automatically from the design with full bill-of-materials generation. Export to PDF and CSV for procurement, with cable length estimates and power consumption rollups.

The Challenge

AV integrators design rooms by hand. Signal flow diagrams are drawn in Visio, speaker placement is based on intuition, and equipment schedules live in spreadsheets that fall out of sync the moment a change is made. There is no automated way to validate a design against organizational standards before installation.

  • Hand-drawn signal flow diagrams prone to errors and version drift
  • Speaker SPL distribution estimated by experience, not modeled from data
  • Microphone pickup patterns never validated until the system is installed
  • Cable lengths guessed on-site, leading to waste and re-runs
  • Equipment BOMs assembled manually in spreadsheets with no link to the design
  • No enforcement of organizational AV design standards across projects

What We Built

A design automation platform with a configurable standards engine at its core. Place equipment in a room, and the system generates electrical drawings, validates coverage, estimates cable runs, and flags standards violations in real time.

  • Room builder — drag-and-drop floor plan layout with snap-to-grid, dimensions, and furniture placement
  • 3D visualization — real-time WebGL rendering with speaker SPL heat maps and coverage analysis
  • Auto-generated drawings — electrical line drawings produced from equipment placement, eliminating manual diagramming
  • Standards engine — per-organization rules for coverage, power, cable runs, and equipment selection with pass/fail validation
  • BOM generation — equipment schedules automatically built from the design with export to PDF and CSV
  • Coverage analysis — speaker SPL distribution, microphone pickup patterns, and display viewing angles based on AVIXA standards

Technology

Built for performance-critical 3D rendering and real-time design validation. The standards engine runs validation checks on every equipment placement, and the drawing generator produces electrical diagrams directly from the spatial model.
